Professor Vu is a pioneer in earable computing, the science of building intelligent sensing and actuation platforms that operate from the human ear. His work has produced over 70 publications, 35+ patents, and multiple best paper awards at top-tier venues including MobiCom, MobiSys, and SenSys. He founded Earable Neuroscience in 2018, which has since raised over $10M from investors including Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and Samsung Ventures, and brought the FRENZ Brainband to market across 40+ countries.
Professor Vu is a Sloan Research Fellow and recipient of the NSF CAREER Award. He delivered the keynote address at ACM MobiSys 2025, the premier mobile systems conference. His research has been featured in BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times.
